4 Components of Action

Recently, I found myself in a slump when it comes to taking action on specific tasks that I am working on, so I took a deep dive to try and understand the concept further.
I stumbled across a framework presented by Clark Kegley and this is what I learned.
Action is not just one act, 4 main components feed into action:
1) Energy - This is the physical capacity to act upon something.
💬 Health
💬 Wellness
💬 Lifestyle
2) Clarity - This is knowing WHAT to do.
💬 Planning
💬 Prioritizing
💬 It doesn't matter how high you climb if your ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. 🧗♂️
3) Subconscious - This is the part of the mind we are not fully aware of that influences actions and feelings.
💬 It is estimated that we have 80 to 90 thousand thoughts a day and 90% of them are subconscious.
💬 Limiting Beliefs
4) Self-discipline - The ability to show up regardless of how you feel.

💬 Routines
If you think of a car with 4 wheels, if one of the wheels is flat or partially flat, it affects the way the car operates. This is the same when it comes to your performance and taking action.
I used this framework to assess myself and realized that when I totaled each area and added them up, I got an honest assessment of only 62%.
I like this framework because it breaks down action into more specific areas to work on to be more productive.

The Consequences of Not Taking Action.
You pile up enough tomorrows and you find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays.
This one hit deep.
This is an extremely profound quote of the consequences of not taking action.
I recently went on a summer break to reconnect with family and friends. It was amazing and wholesome but it was also a big wake-up call.
Reconnecting with the people I love changed my perspective on a lot of things in my life but most importantly, wasting my time on things that don’t matter and not actioning the things I say I want to do or have been wanting to do for a while now.
I said I would start a newsletter 6 months ago. I finally got my first one out today. I took action.

Curiosity
This whole week, one word just keeps popping up. CURIOSITY.
"Curiosity is the beginning of knowledge. Action is the beginning of change."
This is a quote I got from James Clear's newsletter which really resonated with me.
As we age, curiosity often diminishes due to various factors:
Responsibilities and obligations can consume our time and attention, leaving less room for exploration and curiosity.
Past experiences and accumulated knowledge may lead to a sense of familiarity and complacency, reducing the need for new discoveries.
Society's expectations and norms can also discourage curiosity, emphasizing stability and predictability.
As adults, we forget that it's important to nurture and embrace curiosity throughout life, as it fosters growth, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
Listen to this brilliant podcast with The Psychology Master, Adam Alter from the DOAC. They discuss a range of topics with curiosity being one of them.
Allocate dedicated time for exploration and curiosity-driven activities.
Break out of routines and comfort zones to seek novel experiences.
Cultivate a continuous learning mindset and pursue new knowledge.
Embrace uncertainty and challenge assumptions and biases.
Surround yourself with curious individuals who inspire and encourage exploration.
Foster a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world around you.
