The Life In Seasons Model

The Life In Seasons Model

The life in seasons model is based on the idea that life moves in cycles, not in straight lines.

Just like nature has its seasons, spring for growth, summer for activity, autumn for harvest, and winter for rest, so do we.

When you know what season you’re in, you can give yourself the right kind of energy, support, and expectations… instead of trying to juggle “everything” all the time.

Why does it matter?

Trying to build when your body or mind needs rest? Burnout.

Forcing yourself to chill when you're ready to push? Frustration.

This model helps you zoom out and recognise that different times call for different rhythms.

It’s not about being lazy or hustling harder, it’s about aligning your actions with your internal and external season.

The four seasons and what they look like:

Build Season: This is your “Let’s go!” phase. You’re launching something, pushing forward, training, learning, creating. Focus and momentum are your best friends here. You’ll need structure, consistency, and energy.
Tip: Keep distractions low. You’re planting seeds.

Explore Season: Curiosity leads here. You’re experimenting, traveling, reading widely, dabbling in new ideas. There’s less pressure to perform, more room to play.
Tip: Stay open to surprise. Follow sparks, not checklists.

Harvest Season: You’re reaping the rewards of your earlier efforts. Things are working. Now’s your time to optimise, refine, and celebrate. However, don’t get too complacent.
Tip: Reflect on what worked. This is when you get to enjoy.

Rest Season: You’ve finished something big, or maybe life forced a pause. Now’s the time to heal, reflect, and recalibrate. This isn’t slacking, it’s essential.
Tip: Ditch the productivity guilt. Rest is productive.

So how do you figure out what season you are in…

Ask yourself:

  • “Am I in a growth phase or a rest phase?”

  • “Do I feel called to explore or double down?”

  • “What’s my energy like lately?”

  • “Am I fighting my current pace, or flowing with it?”

It is also worth noting that life doesn’t always fit neatly into boxes and you don’t always have to live in just one season.

You might be in a Build season at work but a Rest season personally after a breakup or move.

You could be Exploring creatively, dabbling in new skills, while also Harvesting the benefits of a fitness routine you started six months ago.

Seasons can overlap.
They can shift quickly.
They can exist in different areas of your life at the same time.

The power is in recognising them.

INSIGHTS

Age Smart. Train Smarter.

It’s not often I share the same brand twice, but this episode of The Diary of a CEO was just too good not to highlight.

If you’re someone who loves geeking out on health metrics, tracking data, and understanding how to truly optimize your life, then this one’s for you.

Dr. Peter Attia is a physician, longevity researcher, and author of the best-selling Outlive joins Steven Bartlett for one of the most data-rich, thought-provoking conversations I’ve heard on health, aging, and what it really means to live well for longer.

What made this episode so great was Steven had one of his employees run tests through Dr Attia’s lab. Dr Attia then consults him directly on the podcast which gives the listener a real life understanding of what is going on in the human body.

This made it easy to understand what markers you should look out for and what you should try to optimize.

Some of the highlights include:
🔹 Why grip strength and VO2 max might be two of the most important predictors of how well you’ll age.
🔹 The concept of the “Marginal Decade”. How to prepare now for your final 10 years so that you can still do the things you love.
🔹 Testosterone, men’s health, and redefining what it means to be a strong, healthy man.
🔹 The real impact of visceral fat, stress, poor sleep, and even alcohol, and how to manage it with nuance.
🔹 A breakdown of strength training, power training (especially for fall prevention), and how endurance fits into the picture.
🔹 Insights into nutrition for building muscle and bone density, and the key biomarkers worth tracking.

It’s over 90 minutes of longevity gold!

MOTIVATION

Two Chances, No More

Give everyone a second chance, but never a third.

H. Jackson Brown Jr.

This one hits hard because it's just so true.

Have you ever given someone multiple chances, only to be let down again?

We all know the saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

But let’s take it a step further: “Give everyone a second chance, but never a third.”

I learned this the hard way, my decisions were often driven by emotions, not logic.

The key is to use your rational mind and pay attention to how people consistently show up in your life. Most of the time, a second chance is deserved.

But here's a painful truth I’ve come to accept over the years: when people show you who they are, believe them.

Don’t give a third chance. Protect your peace and avoid being disappointed.

Be intentional about who you allow into your space.

And now, let’s flip the script: “How are you showing up for the people you care about?”

4000 Weeks To Live

Based on this tweet, I have used up 1649 Weeks already. Scary.

When you quantify how much time the average person spends in their life, it is shocking just how quickly it passes.

We take it for granted. That is why a little reminder now and then is super powerful.

Check out this other great quantifiable illustration of time in the 100 Blocks Per Day.
