INSIGHTS

6 Years Until the World Changes

Another brilliant podcast from the Dairy of A CEO.

Raoul Pal is a macroeconomic investor, entrepreneur, and founder of Real Vision, known for his expertise in global markets, cryptocurrencies, and financial trends.

In this episode they talk about:

  • How to build wealth early

  • Become an expert

  • Spot trends

  • Strategically Invest in AI

  • Blockchain

  • Crypto

You will gain valuable insights on how to manage your finances, spot disruptive trends, and understand the potential of emerging technologies like AI and cryptocurrency.

This was my biggest takeaway from this episode:

People say knowledge is power, but with AI, knowledge is going to become infinite, so how does that affect how we leverage our skills and knowledge we have gained over our lives.

It is fascinating and both scary to get an insight into how AI is about to change the world as we know it.

Give this one a go. You won’t regret it!

MOTIVATION

What You Love vs. What You Allow

You are precisely as big as what you love and precisely as small as what you allow to annoy you.

Robert Anton Wilson

It’s a reminder that what fills your heart defines your character, while letting little irritations control you only makes you feel small.

Be mindful of where you put your energy.

Cognitive Distortions

Cognitive Distortions

Cognitive distortions are irrational thoughts that influence our emotional state. They often lead to overthinking and negative thought patterns.

I was always under the impression that I just had a busy mind and this was normal. Once I learned about cognitive distortions, I realized that these are learned thought processes that can cause mental distress or help to manage your thoughts.

Once you understand the reason why your mind acts in a certain way, it is then possible to start to put in place new ways of thinking.

Here is a free list from Therapist Aid of some of the most common cognitive distortions.

Here are a select few from the list:

  1. Magnification and Minimization: Exaggerating or minimizing the importance of events, such as believing your achievements are unimportant or your mistakes are excessively important.

  2. Overgeneralization: Making broad interpretations from a single or few events, like thinking “I felt awkward during my job interview, so I am always so awkward.”

  3. Disqualifying the Positive: Focusing only on the negative aspects of a situation while ignoring the positive, such as disregarding many compliments on an evaluation in favor of a single piece of negative feedback.

  4. Jumping to Conclusions: Interpreting the meaning of a situation with little or no evidence.

  5. Mind Reading: Interpreting others' thoughts and beliefs without sufficient evidence, such as thinking “She wouldn’t go on a date with me; she probably thinks I’m ugly.”

  6. Fortune Telling: Expecting a situation to turn out badly without adequate evidence.

Some Cognitive Restructuring exercises to help:

  • Evidence Gathering: Write down a negative thought, then list evidence that supports and contradicts it. For example, if thinking "I always fail," list past successes that prove otherwise.

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis: Identify the negative thought and assess how it benefits you versus how it harms you. Decide if the thought is worth keeping.

  • Thought Stopping: When you catch yourself having a negative or irrational thought, say "Stop!" in your mind or out loud, then immediately replace it with a positive or neutral thought.

  • Perspective-Taking: Imagine a friend had the same thought you are having. What advice would you give them? Use this advice to reframe your thinking.

  • Gratitude Practice: Write down three things you’re grateful for each day to counter negative thinking patterns and focus on the positive aspects of your life.

I hope this brings you the same value it brought me! 🙂
