The Power of Tiny Gains

1% Better Everyday
Imagine this: If you get just 1% better every day for a year, you’ll end up 37 times better than when you started. But if you get 1% worse each day? Well... let’s just say you’ll barely recognize yourself.
Here’s the secret sauce:
Improvement isn’t flashy. It’s not about massive, overnight changes.
It’s about those small, almost invisible wins that add up over time—like flossing one tooth today, doing a single push-up, or writing just one sentence.
James Clear’s graph shows this beautifully. At first, the progress looks flat—like nothing’s happening. But as you stick with those tiny improvements, they snowball into exponential growth.
Why This Matters:
This is information we all know but we still ignore. We often overestimate what we can do in a short time and underestimate what we can achieve in the long run. The key is consistency.
Make It Actionable:
Here’s how to start applying the 1% Rule today:
Pick One Tiny Habit: Choose one area you want to improve. Want to read more? Commit to just one page a day. Want to get fitter? Start with one push-up.
Track It: Keep a simple tracker (use a journal, app, or sticky notes). Celebrate each day you show up.
Make It Fun: Reward yourself for sticking with it—watch an episode of your favorite show, have a treat, or simply high-five yourself in the mirror.
Remember, success isn’t a giant leap; it’s the tiny steps you take consistently.
What’s your 1% today?
INSIGHTS
Your Time, Your Truth
Your calendar isn't just recording your time—it's exposing your lies.
— Shane Parrish (@ShaneAParrish)
12:56 PM • Dec 15, 2024
As the holidays approach, take a hard look at your calendar. Every block of time tells the story of your true priorities, not the ones you say you have, but the ones you live.
This season, think about how you're spending your time.
Are your choices aligned with what you truly value? Are you giving your attention to what matters most, or are you letting distractions dictate your story?
Your calendar is more than a schedule; it's a mirror. Use it to reflect, recalibrate, and make your time count for yourself and the people you care about most.
MOTIVATION
Your Age, Your Identity
"Your biological age is the number of days you've lived.
Your psychological age is the number of thoughts you've entertained.
Your sociological age is the number of contributions you've made."
The last one struck a nerve in me.
If true fulfillment come from a life of service, how much are you giving back?

Fill Up Your Cup!

Heather Jock Hut, Glenorchy
Yesterday, I had the privilege of hiking up into the serene, rugged mountains of Glenorchy, New Zealand.
With a shaky little hut as our shelter and the vast wilderness as our backdrop, we experienced something rare: complete disconnection from the outside world. No Wi-Fi, no notifications just the hum of nature, the laughter of friends, and the occasional bleat of wild goats.
The journey wasn’t without its challenges. At times, I felt restless, itching to reach the summit or frustrated with idle hours under the blazing sun. But those moments turned into unexpected treasures. We played cards, sang silly songs, and simply just were. There was no need to rush, no distraction to pull us away from the now and the beauty of our surroundings.
As the sun set, painting the sky in colors I’d never seen before, and as it rose the next morning, spilling golden light over the peaks, I realized something profound: the magic of that mountain wasn’t just in its beauty. It was in the stillness. In being fully present. In not having the option to scroll.
This hike reminded me of the joy that comes from slowing down and leaning into the moment, even when it’s uncomfortable. The holidays are coming, a time when life can often speed up and we’re pulled in a thousand directions. Maybe this is your chance to create your own “mountain moment.”
Sometimes, the most valuable thing we can explore is not the world around us, but the stillness within.
Step back, disconnect, and spend time with the people and places that truly fill your cup.
