The OODA Loop

Have you ever fired off a message or an email only to realize oh shoot… maybe I shouldn’t have said that.
Most bad decisions don’t come from a lack of intelligence. They come from impulse.
A moment happens, something feels uncomfortable and instead of thinking, we react.
And only later… we realise it wasn’t the right move.
This is where the OODA Loop comes in:
Observe → Orient → Decide → Act
It’s a simple way to zoom out, slow down just enough to make better decisions.
Observe
What actually just happened?
Orient
What am I feeling, and why?
Decide
What’s the right move here, not the fastest one?
Act
Then act with intention.
Take relationships as an example, one message, one tone, one comment can trigger you.
Impulse says: react immediately. The loop says: pause, process, respond.
That small gap changes everything.
Because here’s the truth:
Impulse is emotional, decisions should be intentional.
The people who move forward in life aren’t the ones who never feel pressure.
They’re the ones who don’t let pressure make the decision for them.
So next time you feel the urge to react…
Don’t trust the impulse.
Run the loop.
INSIGHTS
The Future Of AI Is Already Here
I’ve been waiting patiently for the team at DOAC to drop another episode that genuinely shifts perspective… and this one delivers.
It made me realise something slightly uncomfortable.
We’re not slowly entering the AI era, we’re already in it.
And the rules are changing faster than most people are prepared for.
The biggest shift?
We’re moving into what they call a power law economy.
A small number of people will capture a disproportionate amount of value, while the majority compete for less.
AI isn’t just replacing jobs, it’s reshaping how value is created, and here’s where it gets interesting.
The opportunity is massive.
The people who win in this next phase won’t necessarily be the smartest or most qualified.
They’ll be the ones who: Adapt quickly, experiment early, build leverage through tools, audience, and ideas
What stood out most to me was this:
The real advantage humans still have isn’t efficiency…it’s original thinking, storytelling, and connection.
AI can replicate output, but it can’t replicate perspective.
That’s why building a personal brand, creating and sharing ideas, and learning how to use these tools isn’t optional anymore.
It’s becoming your insurance policy.
We’re still early.
But not for long.
MOTIVATION
What Aren’t You Feeling
What you reach for when things get uncomfortable tells you what you’re trying not to feel.
You don’t rise to your intentions.
You fall to your coping mechanisms.
Pay attention to what you reach for.
EXPLORE
Manus AI

This one honestly blew my mind.
I’ve been experimenting with an AI tool called Manus that has recently been acquired by META, and it’s a great example of where things are heading.
This isn’t just a chatbot.
It acts more like an AI operator, connecting different tools and helping execute tasks across them. Think less “answering questions” and more “getting things done.”
The agency I’m working with actually used it to help launch a Facebook ad from scratch, by itself! (With the right prompting, of course)
That’s when it clicked for me.
AI isn’t just about content anymore, it’s moving into execution and workflows.
You get some free credits to test it, then it moves into a paid model like most tools.
We’re still early.
But tools like this are a glimpse into a future where AI doesn’t just assist your work…
It starts doing parts of it for you.
Definitely one worth exploring.
Ambitious Question
Where in your life is impulse making decisions you later regret?
In case you missed last week’s newsletter, I spoke about:
TEACH: Solomon’s Paradox - why we give better advice to others than we take ourselves, and how creating distance helps us think more clearly.
INSIGHTS: Why success becomes easier when you build systems, shifting from relying on motivation to creating repeatable processes across key areas of life.
MOTIVATION: Acceptance vs struggle - the idea that not everything is solved by force, and sometimes growth comes from surrender rather than resistance.
EXPLORE: Adobe Podcast - an AI tool that enhances audio quality, making it useful for content creators and teachers to produce clear, professional recordings.
Check it out here.
