The Taste Gap
Have you ever tried something new?
Drawing, writing, speaking, building, painting, starting a business, and what you make just isn’t “that” good?
Because deep down you “know” what good looks like?
That’s called The Taste Gap.
The idea is that most creative people get started because they have great taste. They know what quality feels like. They can spot greatness. But when they try to make something themselves? Their skill doesn’t match their taste… yet.
So they feel frustrated.
You imagine something in your head… but when you try to create it, it comes out wobbly, weak, meh.
It’s not bad because you suck, it’s bad because your taste is ahead of your ability.
That’s the gap. It is essentially the gap between your standard and your skill level.
Before Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney created a character called Oswald.
It flopped. He lost the rights. He almost gave up.
But he had a vision of what great storytelling and animation could be. So he kept creating.
The result?
Disneyland.
Your Takeaway:
Whatever it is that you are working on at the moment, keep going!

Simon joins the imperfects to debunk popular diet myths, explain how lifestyle and genetics influence health, and explore why joy and connection matter just as much as nutrition when it comes to food.
What you’ll get from this episode:
The truth about popular diet fads and food myths
A fresh perspective on how your genes interact with your lifestyle
Encouragement to stop chasing the “perfect” diet
Tips for building healthier, more joyful relationships with food
Real talk about sugar, soy, plant protein, supplements & breakfast
Insights on perimenopause, gut health, and family eating habits
A reminder that sharing meals is as important as what’s on the plate
Perfect for anyone who wants real, science-backed answers, and permission to enjoy their food.
An Aussie accent is also a great switch up!
MOTIVATION
Comfort Vs Growth
A man is worked on by what he works on.
Read that again.
What you work on shapes you.
Every project, every goal, every habit, it’s not just something you're building. It's building you.
Your comfort is killing your growth.
Spread your wings.

Dr Mike Israetel is a PHD in Sport Science and Physiology, a competitive body builder and a brazilin jujitsu black belt.
I stumbled across his YouTube channel a couple of weeks ago. He is by no means niche or unknown. He has a huge following, and for good reason.
Dr Mike has a dry, funny sense of humor and he doesn’t hold his punches when critiquing the science, strategies and opinions of other professionals and thought leaders in his space. He is extremally authentic and unbelievably knowledgeable about the human body.
He has a way of breaking down complex concepts into bit sized chunks that are both easy to understand but also super informative.
I just became a subscriber.
If you are into your health, fitness or building muscle, then this is the YouTube channel for you.
